Beginners Blueprint: Test E Cycle (A Complete Testosterone Enanthate Beginner Steroid Cycle)

Lets start by talking about what this article is not. Its not a comprehensive look at anabolic steroids, the science behind them and their history. If you want a research paper you may need to look elsewhere. You can take a read here and learn what anabolic steroids are. What this article is though, is a straight forward and simple guide to using anabolic steroids for the first time and as a result all the fluff has been removed so that you are provided an easy to follow, safe and effective steroid cycle to take.

Why I Wrote About this Cycle of Steroids for Beginners

“I am a first time user, what cycle should I take” – It is the most common question asked around anabolic steroids and a big part of that is the total excess amount of information and opinions on the subject that does little more then confuses the beginner. Seeing that this is the number one question that I receive I felt it is time to create a super simple yet effective cycle and guide for all you first time users out there. I also wanted to create a resource for beginners, which meets the 3 main criteria I think are important for them:

1. Safe
2. Easy
3. Effective

Some people recommend a heavy stack for your first cycle in the belief that your most impressive gains are to be had. However that same advice would also lead you to having the most severe side effects and health damage as well. Your first cycle needs to be simple to administer, relatively inexpensive and as safe as possible and its with this in mind that I created the following beginner cycle.

This article also has an air or realism in it. I won’t preach (much) about the right way to do things, because I assume most people have already made their mind up about using steroids whether they have the correct preparation or not. In that case I still want them to be safe and get results.

Before We Get To The Beginner Steroid Cycle

There are a few points I want to focus on before we get to the good stuff.

1. It takes a bigger person to stop

If you are having issues during your cycle, or something feels off you can stop your cycle at any time and commence your PCT (post cycle therapy). Pushing though the pain barrier is usually a good thing, but anabolic steroids are powerful and not to be taken lightly. You can continue research ask on the forums for advice and start a new cycle at a later time, but you can do irreversible damage is your stupid about these things.

2. Tell Your Doctor

You don’t have to make an appointment to see them, but if you have a medical condition come up, they NEED to know your full medical picture. Some of them will begin preaching to you, but there job is to treat you and they have sworn oath to keep all medical information secret.

3. Keep It Simple Stupid (KISS)

I love the KISS principle and it applies doubly for your first cycle. You don’t need to win Mr Olympia after one cycle and you don’t need to add exotic compounds to get great results. Your first cycle is as much a learning experience as anything else.

Should You Even Be Starting Your First Cycle?

You will do what you want anyway but I thought it relevant to at least give my opinion on the topic. It’s important to remember that steroids are performance enhancing drugs, so if you are not performing already then you best get started before touching a needle else you will risk all the side effects without any of the gains.

Under 21

Absolute no-no. You are still growing and steroids will stunt your growth. See here for more info.

Training for less then 2 years

There are a number of issues here. Firstly you have so much potential natural growth you shouldn’t need steroids anyway. Secondly steroids require a commitment and if you are just jumping in the gym and just as likely to quit you will be throwing money away and possibly getting a number of sides to go with it. Lastly your muscles grow faster then your tendons, jumping straight in the gym and on the gear will place a lot of strain on your tendons in terms of weight lifted, extra muscle and a loss of collagen. I talk more about this here.

Diet and Training is poor or erratic

There is no reason to touch steroids if you can’t get your own house in order first. If you are not dieting and training well then steroids won’t help you, end of story.

Your Heavily Overweight

Similar story if you can not get yourself into shape without steroids you won’t be able to do it with them either. Also the risk of side effects such as aromatisation increases with the amount of bodyfat.

Your Emotionally Unstable

Steroids generally accentuate your emotions. So you reach higher highs, and lower lows and if you are having issues prior to use such as depression or anxiety then steroids will make this worse. Best to be in a good headspace before going on cycle.

Diet & Exercise

Now diet and exercise fills literally millions of web pages on the internet so I am not going to go in depth here. You will hear people say you should be reaching your natural limit or be an experienced lifter with up to 10 years of continual lifting. This is unrealistic and probably overkill, for most of the people reading this, they wouldn’t need steroids at all if they had 10 years of continual lifting.

However I recommend strongly that you have your diet and exercise to a point where it is habitual. You want to be eating a good ratio of protein/carbs/fat and exercising regularly without having to think too much about it. You will want to be focusing on your cycle and not be thinking about this stuff, so I like to see people with at least 3 months of continual and high quality diet and exercise before they cycle.

Having said that if you don’t eat enough calories or stress your muscles enough with quality training then anabolic steroids won’t help you either.

The Best First Steroid Cycle

Well its usually best to start with a goal. In this case I am going to assume it is to put on muscle and improve strength. If you want to burn fat then avoid steroids and take a good hard look at your diet. Even compounds traditionally associated with fat burning work far more effectively when you have a good amount of muscle burning calories with it.

Testosterone Enanthate Beginners Steroid Cycle

  • Weeks 1-10 – 500mg/week Testosterone Enanthate
  • Weeks 1-12 – 0.25mg Arimidex EOD
  • Weeks 13-14 – Nolvadex 20mg/twice daily
  • Weeks 15-16 – Nolvadex 20mg/day

test-eSo lets quickly talk about this cycle. You will notice it is a Test E only cycle and I did this for a number of reasons. Firstly Test E has a longer ester (remains in your system longer) meaning you don’t have to inject as often and there is far less chance of pain with your injections. Secondly Test is the most common steroid used and most stacks/cycles are built around it. By using it first and by itself you can see how your body reacts to it and what if any precautions you may need for future cycles to avoid unpleasant side effects. Lastly its extremely effective, it will give you excellent gains in both mass and strength, which is the whole point.

The Arimidex is an anti-aromatising product that will limit the side effects of the Test E (which I will go into more detail later). If you start to notice sides you can up the Arimidex to 0.25mg every day and then again to 0.5mg every day if necessary. It continues for 2 weeks after your last Test injection because it remains in your system for 2 weeks afterwards and will continue to have aromatsating effects.

Nolva (or Nolvadex) is a PCT (post cycle treatment) product that will help you restart your natural testosterone production (see here for why it is necessary). Without it you not only stand a good chance of losing gains you have made on cycle, but you will hinder your chances of future muscle growth as well. Any time you plan a cycle you should plan and purchase your PCT with it, this is probably the most common trap new users fall into and the failure to properly plan can have long lasting effects.

There are another 2 compounds I would sometimes recommend with your first cycle but are not necessary.

Dbol is an oral steroid known for extremely good gains. It helpful as a kickstart for your cycle as the steroid half-life is only 4-6 hours so it works quickly whilst you wait for the test e to build in your system (which takes up to 2 weeks). However it may give you extra side effects and can be toxic on the liver so you should only use for 4 weeks. Please use a liver supplement with it such as Liv-52 and don’t drink at all on cycle but especially not whilst using orals.

  • Weeks 1-4 – 25mg every day

HCG is commonly used post cycle. Its actually a pregnancy hormone, but it has the effect of protecting your testicles from shrinkage and permeant damage. I could probably add it to the beginner cycle but I want to avoid over-complication and generally there is very little chance of testicular damage on your first moderate cycle. Having said that it doesn’t hurt to take HCG so if you have enough funds and can source it then I would grab some.

  • Weeks 1-12 – 250iu twice a week

Buying Gear

Now you know what to get, the inevitable question is where can I buy steroids. Well I recommend Gear Oz to buy steroids in Australia, I have formed a really good relationship with these guys and they sell great quality gear that you are guaranteed to receive. Another one I commonly recommend on my site is Napsgear who have the best prices and range available anywhere. However they are based overseas so there is a 30-40% chance your order will be intercepted by customs. Having said that there are options coming and going on a weekly basis and I keep these updated in my forum at all time.

What Else You will Need

You will need some more equipment before you are ready to start your cycle. You can pick up what you need at a health clinic, needle exchange, ebay or online medical store. For brevity I will list exactly what you will need for this cycle here and links to one place you can get them. However they sell in bulk so feel free to look around for something similar:

Alcohol Wipes (here)

Need to wipe the injection site and vial to avoid contamination.

Syringes (here)

To hold the oil, 3mL is a good size.

19-21 Gauge 40mm/1.5in Needles (here)

To withdraw the gear, the Gauge (which refers to the size of the hole in the needle) is far to big for injections.

23-25 Gauge 40mm/1.5in Needles (here)

To inject the gear, the smaller hole makes a more pleasurable experience and avoids taking chunks of skin.

Insulin Pins (here)

For the arimidex, you need an insulin pin to measure the IU (international units). Do not use to inject steroids though.

Injection Guide

Probably the scariest part for a beginner is the injections. Unless you have medical experience sticking a 3-4cm long needle in your own body is a pretty frightening prospect. Well what can I say other then it gets so much easier with practice and experience. That first injection will be the hardest one you have to do.

Injection Site

There are a number of injection sites on the body, which I have discussed previously here. For a beginner doing 2 injections a week you don’t have to be an expert just yet and can stick with the glute (your arse) for this cycle. Simply draw a line on one of your cheeks right down the middle horizontally and vertically and you want to inject on the top outside quadrant (see image). Anything lower may hit your sciatic nerve (green line) which is not much fun at all.

Injection Technique

If you are using a vial you need to fill up with your lower gauge needle. Wipe the rubber seal with an alcohol swap before you start.  Its best to puncture the rubber seal from an angle so that it can seal back up once the needle is removed. Tip the vial upside down and withdraw the required amount. Make sure there are no bubbles in the oil (miniscule bubbles are normal). Once complete remove the needle and put on the higher gauge needle attachment.

Wipe the injection site with another alcohol wipe. Then inject the needle at a 90 degree angle all the way in. Your glute is very big so do not stress about going in too deep. Withdraw the plunger slightly looking for blood. If you see blood then you have hit a vein and should try a different spot. Otherwise slowly (I know you will want to go fast) plunge the oil into your body which can take a few minutes.

Withdraw the needle and check for bleeding, throw on a bandaid if there is any. Otherwise rub the affected area for 5 minutes to help dispurse the oil.

Side Effects

The most common side effects from testosterone come from its aromatising properties where testosterone is converted into oestrogen. These sides can be minimised with an increase use of arimidex up to 0.5mg every day and for most people barely be noticed with the cycle I have provided above. The use of Dbol increases the risk of side effects and also can harm your liver, but the short cycle suggested above won’t make too much difference. Also I will mention you are going to feel some discomfort for 3-4 days after your initial injections which will gradually reduce as you become accustom to the injections. This is completely normal and may require a bit of

  • Acne
  • Water Retention
  • Gyno (sore, red or inflamed nipples)
  • High Blood pressure
  • High Cholestorol
  • Testicular Atrophy (your balls shrink because they are not working)

For the testicular atrophy you can use HCG as mentioned earlier if you are concerned but they almost always rebound particularly for first time users.  Otherwise you just need to be aware of the potential side effects and look out for them whilst on cycle. There are other traditional methods of dealing with these sides as well which I have covered in greater detail here.

Test E Cycle Beginners Guide Conclusion

Now you beginners have a step by step guide to using steroids for the first time. I hope this helps a lot of you rookies out there. We all started in the same boat and I think its important to realise and then remember that steroids are a long term solution and whilst they work well, the results will only remain as long as you have the fundamentals of dieting, supplementing and training down. Remember as well that Google is your friend, the amount of information out there is incredible, and you should be educating yourself as much as possible taking particular attention to the thousands of case studies of guys who have been through what your about to start.

Get your diet and training right, keep it simple and let testosterone do the rest, you will be surprised by how effective a simple cycle like this will be. If you have any questions or would like to post your own progress for others to follow, please leave a comment below or join the forum and share your experience. Good luck and stay safe.

    Hey there.

    I am a 29yo guy, I’ve trained for 12years.

I had a knee ACL reconstruction around 8 weeks ago. I still have a decent size in upper body I’m 184cm and 95kg.

Have been starting back on getting my legs back strong. I am a snowboard instructor for 7months of the year in Canada. ANYWAY

I have always wanted to try steroids. I thought this recovery might be an opportunity to just train in the Gym maybe try them. Even try an amateur body building show in the coming months.

Do you think a cycle could help my recovery? Thinking it’s an opportunity to recover, give me a goal (trying a show) and have me back ready to snowboard again in December.

I will be the first time to use steroids . I am 23years old. 184cm. 85kg. I have trained for 3years. Which products is good for me to bulking and let the side effects get lowest after I use the products.

Hi I’m 38 year old male in fairly good shape, been training for 15 years .
in a couple months i will be going to do Tree planting in far north queensland
it involves planting 2000-3000 trees a day, carrying heavy weight w a shovel, walking , bending down
non stop for 9 hours during 2 months on temperatures that goes from 37 to 45 degrees and humidity of 70-80% , seriously by far its the hardest job and workout’s there is

Im thinking on getting the beginners stack from gear phoenix website contains
    2 viles / Testosterone Enanthate 250
    x 1 packet / Clomid or Nolva
    x 1 packet / Arimidex
    500mg Test E
    0.5mg Arimidex

Is this a good idea in a situation like tree planting ?
should i be concerned for the water loss due to the heat ?
    I drink around 7-10 litters a day but sitll….
can i get started w a Sarm 2 months before starting the cycle ?
I’ve been told one burns close to 6000 calories a day on the job.
how does this stuff combines w a huge calorie/ fat diet ?
last time i tree planted i included high calorie and fat in take , gain heaps of muscle and for shredded.
Oh and i just started balding , should i expect hair loss for sure ?

    1. Jake Archer

Yeah it will certainly help. I would start the cycle before the job, to get your strength and stamina up, and eat and drink like crazy to fuel the body and you will probably come out looking amazing.

  4. TEST -Anavar
I have 2 jars of Test Cypionate and 100 ×25 mg Anavar tablets.
Test 500mg per week and 50 mg per day of Anavar for the last 5 weeks.
Would it be possible to run the Anavar for the first 1or2 weeks till Test kicks in and Anavar for the last 5 or 6 weeks. I am 54 year’s old and I am 90 Kilograms. Then Clomid for P.C.T. I HAVE my Diet starting to work. ..I don’t get any Gyno issues with Test and the Anavar does not need it.
    Is this correct

  5. carteado

Please, could I use HCG on weeks 4 and 8 only ? Or should I use it through all cycle ? I have HCG already, so I will use it anyway…

Can I start with sustanon instead to kick start ? If yes, how should I do it ? I have sustanon and Test-e at my disposal… thx

    1. Jake Archer

HCG should be run weekly for 4 to 8 weeks. You can front load your cycle with higher dose of Sus and Test but I would run both together the whole time, I wouldn’t use both then switch to one your will just lose your momentum.

  6. Michael

    Hey Jake,

Great site with lots of valuable information. I want to start my first cycle but don’t want to put on a heap of mass (currently at 90kg) but put on more strength as I frequently rock climb and run. Would you recommend any variations to this cycle for an athlete?

    1. Jake Archer

Not really – its a very basic stack that I recommend nearly all first time users to start with. Basically the diet and type of training performed will determine the outcome. You could swap for test P to reduce mass gains a little, but if you don’t eat to many calories and do High intensity training you will be sweet, its what the sprinters of the 90s did.

  7. shane

Just a question regarding nutrition for first cycle. What is a good ball park figure regarding calorie intake ? Currently on 4120 calories with a 29,49,22 % P,C,F split.
